Diamond Head is probably the most easily recognizable landmark
in Hawaii. Located on the southeast coast of the island of Oahu, Diamond Head is
an extinct volcanic crater that rises above the Pacific Ocean at the end of
Waikiki Beach. The name was given to the crater by British sailors in the 1800s
who thought the calcite crystals in the lava rock looked like diamonds. Diamond
Head has been extinct for 150,000 years and is 3,520 feet in diameter with a
760-foot summit. A hike to the summit is considered moderate in exertion and
gives an unparalleled, stunning view of the entire west side of the island. Down
below on Waikiki Beach, the “sun and fun capital of the world,” activities
include everything from swimming, surfing and snorkeling to horseback riding,
golf and parasailing. The two-mile stretch of gleaming white sand of Waikiki
Beach is usually always filled with people, and high rise hotels, condominiums
and restaurants line the beach. Nightclubs, theater, shows and outdoor concerts
can all be found here, as well. Diamond Head is near the Polynesian Cultural
Center, Sea Life Park, Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial.

Home
to Honolulu, Pearl Harbor, and Waikiki
Explore dozens of hotels, on the island called by many "The Gathering
Place" — including beachfront family hotels, and luxury resorts.
The city of Honolulu, the state's capital, offers a handful of
business hotels (primarily in the airport, downtown and fringe Waikiki
areas)
The majority of the island's hotels are located in Honolulu's main
visitor district, Waikiki, which stretches along the famous
Waikiki Beach. Compare our rates and availability of resorts and hotels.
Pearl Harbor, on the edge of Honolulu, is a poignant reminder of
the event that catapulted the U.S. into World War II. There you can
visit the USS Arizona Memorial, the USS Missouri and other vessels.
Nearby is the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet with its hundreds of stalls.
Venturing farther afield, you might plan a driving tour along Oahu's
rugged eastern shore. Stop at Hanauma Bay for a swim and snorkel and
have lunch in Kailua. Then buy ripe fruit at a roadside stand, visit the
Byodo-In Temple in Kaneohe and return to Waikiki through the Likelike
Tunnel.
For full immersion in Polynesian culture, be sure to visit the Bishop
Museum (it has a good planetarium), the Iolani Palace and the Polynesian
Cultural Center.
Whatever you decide to do, remember not to rush. Outside the city, Oahu
is a laid-back island, so relax and take things slowly.

the Quiet Isle of
Molokai
There's an island in Hawaii that the world has left
behind.
A place where
there are no buildings taller than a coconut tree. No traffic and no
traffic lights. Where nature calls you to push yourself to the limit and
pull yourself together. An island, a place, a state of mind...called
Molokai.
Outdoor
explorers, eco-seekers, ocean adventurers -- welcome to Hawaii`s most
natural island.

The small
city of Hilo is built around crescent-shaped Hilo Bay , celebrated in
song and dance. Some of the very best Big
Island Beach locations are along the sunny Kohala Coast. This barren
coastline appears at first to be inhospitable, with the dominant feature
being the craggy black rocks deposited by lava flow after the eruption
of Mauna Loa in 1801 and 1859. But several small roads off the 30-mile
coastal highway lead to a handful of stunning public beaches, most with
a luxury resort complex nearby

Although it is one of the smallest of the main Hawaiian Islands, the
forces of nature have had more time to break the island down and produce
more sand beach around its 110-mile coastline than any other island in
the chain. Both development and tourism have been concentrated in
relatively few locations. All of which furthers the sense that Kauai is,
in fact, a separate kingdom. See some of our Great Hotels >
